HKS High-RPM Head Systems - Nissan SR20DET

HKS unveiled their new head systems for the Nissan SR20DET engine at the 2005 SEMA Show. HKS Head Systems have been engineered to increase the RPM range of the Nissan SR20DET engine. The Step 2 Head System for HKS Step 2 Camshafts allows the SR20DET engine to rev to 8,000RPMs. The Step 2 Head System includes HKS Valve Springs, Black Coated Rocker Arms, and Retainers. The HKS Black Coated Rockers Arms have been specially treated to increase strength and durability while the HKS Retainers unique design allows it to secure valve shims at high RPMs compared to the OEM retainers. The Step 3 Head System is designed specifically for HKS Step 3 Camshafts and for a 9,000RPM Redline. The Step 3 Head System includes all the components in the Step 2 system, but adds: Inner Valve Springs, Solid Lifters, and Valve Stem Seals. The new HKS Inner Valve Springs combined with the included HKS Head System Step 2 valve springs (outer) reduces the likely hood of valve float and valve jump that can occur at high RPMs. The HKS Solid Lifters replaces the OEM hydraulic lifters so that higher lift camshafts can be used with reduced risk of altering the rocker arm angle, or actually separating the rocker arm from the valve train. HKS Valve Stem Seals are made from a special material that allows the appropriate amount of oil to lubricate the valve seat at high RPMs. The OEM valve stem seals are prone to over saturate valve seats at high RPMs.
