• Lowering the ride height lowers the car's center of gravity, improving handling performance. However, this necessitates a higher spring constant to prevent the suspension from fully compressing, leading to increased jarring and a worsening of ride comfort. We believe that a ride height reduction of approximately -15 to -20 mm compared to mass-produced vehicles is optimal in terms of both driving performance and practicality, and therefore we have equipped the vehicle with a ride height adjustment mechanism of ±10 mm.
• Depending on the vehicle model, the spring constant is generally set to approximately 110-130% of that of mass-produced vehicles, resulting in a specially shaped part that balances roll suppression with ride comfort. The specifications were determined through repeated driving tests on actual vehicles.
• By calculating the damping ratio (C/Cc), which is the ratio of the damper's damping force (C) to the critical damping force (Cc), the vibration characteristics (vehicle movement) can be predicted.
• While typical passenger cars have a damping ratio of around 30-40%, this car is set to approximately 50% for drivers who actively enjoy driving. Furthermore, the rise of damping force in the very low-speed range of piston speed from 0 to 0.1 m/sec was given top priority. This delayed the onset speed of roll, squat, and nose dive, which could not be compensated for by simply increasing the spring constant, thereby improving the car's initial responsiveness. However, if the increased damping force were simply allocated to the rebound and compression sides, the ride comfort would deteriorate. Therefore, the compression damping force was reduced compared to mass-produced cars, and the increased damping force was added to the rebound damping force to maintain a balance with handling.
