With their Water Cooled Oil Cooler Kit Honda S660, HKS has made it possible to maintain stable oil temperature regardless of the engine layout. By replacing the muffler, tuning the ECU with Flash Editor, and even installing a turbo kit, the S660 can be turned into an engine that runs smoothly up to high rpms. Higher output inevitably leads to higher oil temperatures, but the mid-engine layout makes it impossible to achieve an efficient layout with a conventional air-cooled oil cooler.

About HKS

HKS was founded in October 1973 by Hiroyuki Hasegawa, a former Yamaha engineer, and Goichi Kitagawa, with start-up capital from Sigma Automotive; the name comes from Hasegawa, Kitagawa and Sigma. It began in a small shed at the foot of Mount Fuji, in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, and is still based there.

In 1974 HKS built one of the first bolt-on turbo kits, for the Nissan L20 engine in the Skyline, raising output from 115 to 160 PS. Turbocharging made its name; today it also makes exhausts, springs, shocks and coilover suspension, and it marked its 50th anniversary in 2023.
