About Modellista
Modellista, formally Toyota Modellista International, was established in 1997 as a Toyota subsidiary, a joint venture with Toyota Technocraft, and is based in Chofu, Tokyo. The name is Italian for "designer", and it sells customised Toyotas.
Its first complete car was the PX-01, built on the Hilux Surf, and in 2001 it built the VM180 Zagato with the Italian coachbuilder Zagato. It later moved into aero kits, wheels and mufflers. In 2018 it merged into Toyota Customizing & Development, and the brand continues for Toyota, Lexus and Daihatsu cars through their dealers.
