The GTI came on 17x7.5 +49 with 225/45R17 tyres, 18x7.5 +49 with 225/40R18 on cars with adaptive dampers, and 19x7.5 +51 on the Performance. Without modification, 18x8 +45 to +50 on 225/40R18 or 19x8 +45 to +50 on 225/35R19 fits inside the fenders. With rolled fenders and some extra camber, most owners run 18x8.5 to 18x9 +40 to +45 on 235/40R18, or 19x8.5 +38 to +45 on 235/35R19, the same size front and rear.
