Crank bearing caps are needed to secure strict metal clearance of the crankshaft by fixing the bearing firmly at the time of high rotation, high load and to endure the force from bending or torsion vibration. However, in combination with a common bolt and nut, no matter what strengthen bolt is used, bolting power concentrates on from third groove to the 1st groove of the screw, and the total bolting power cannot be increased beyond a certain value. Moreover, excessive stress is concentrated and may damage the bolt. Stud bolts, on the other hand, apply dynamic strength to the threading so that the bolting force is dispersed to all the screw threads.

About Tomei
Tomei was founded in 1968 by members of the Johoku Riders motorcycle club, among them Nissan works driver Seiichi Suzuki. It began as a racing engine builder for Nissan engines only, and its work on the Nissan L-series and later the RB and SR engines made its name. The company took the name Tomei Powered when it moved to Machida, Tokyo, in 1994.
Tomei now develops parts for many Japanese engines, Mitsubishi, Subaru and Toyota as well as Nissan: camshafts, valve train parts, pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts, complete engines, and exhaust systems such as its well-known Expreme titanium range.
