The WC34 Stagea
Nissan built the WC34 Stagea from 1996 to 2001, a five-door wagon on the C34 Laurel's floor pan with some rear suspension parts shared with the R32, R33 and R34 Skylines. Engines are all from the RB family: the 2.0-litre RB20, the 2.5-litre RB25DE and the turbocharged RB25DET. Rear-wheel and four-wheel drive were both offered, the four-wheel-drive cars (WGNC34) using ATTESA E-TS, the same system as the Skyline GTS-4 and GT-R.
The Series 2 of August 1998 moved to the NEO versions of each engine, the RB25DET NEO making 280 PS, and changed the glass headlights for plastic ones. Most Stageas are automatics; only the 25t RS Four S and the Autech 260RS, which carries the GT-R's RB26DETT, came with a five-speed manual.
What Stagea owners upgrade
The turbo Stagea shares its RB25DET with the R33 and R34 Skylines, and owners tune it the same way. Engine electronics and boost control come first, then pod and replacement filters from the intake range, straight pipes, dump pipes and full systems from the exhaust range, and turbo kits for more. Bee R, Nismo, Tomei, HKS, Kakimoto Racing and APEXi are the names owners choose.
LSD upgrade kits from the drivetrain range are a common fit. Aero kits are popular, and fitting the front end of an R34 Skyline is a common conversion.
Genuine parts
Mechanically the Stagea shares the C34 Laurel's components, so many service parts are common to both. Series 1 and Series 2 cars differ at the front, so headlights and bumpers depend on the build date. Our genuine OEM parts catalogue covers the WC34 from mirrors and weather strips to catalytic converters.
Wheels
Factory wheels varied by grade, from forged 16-inch wheels on the Series 1 RS Four V to 17-inch BBS wheels on the 260RS. The wheels that fit the Stagea page lists what suits it.
